HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04032007 - C.25 i� C . 25 IN THE MATTER OF HONORING RESOLUTION NO. 2007/128 CHIEF ASSISTANT PUBLIC DEFENDER, SUZANNE CHAPOT TO COMMEMORATE HER RETIREMENT WHEREAS, Suzanne Chapot is retiring from the Office of Public Defender after 26 years of service; and WHEREAS, Suzanne Chapot kissed her first boy in the balcony of the State Theatre in Martinez and has ruled the roost for the past eight lyears in that very same State Theatre, currently housing the Main Branch office of the Department; and WHEREAS, Suzanne Chapot graduated from Alhambra High School, and attended other PAC 10 schools including the University of Arizona; UC Berkeley and the University of Southern California, from which she graduated-1w-1 96k and.; WHEREAS, Suzanne Chapot was.a:...teacher in the West County Schools, and then attended Golden Gate Law School from which she graduated in 1975;and WHEREAS, "Suzanne Chapot.,practiced law as part of t.the firmChapot &. Parker ass from 1976 to 1979, and then with Dully,Jameson &�'Snyder from 1979 to 1981; and WHEREAS, Suzanne Chapot domed the Department as a.misdemeanor attorney in the Richmond Office m 1981, and subsequently was;-assigned to Concord Branch Misd6fiie; rs,and thei °to a felony assignment in Martinez;and = WHEREAS, Suzanne Chapot has i been assigned many'.:of the most challengug capital cases ever litigated rn the Department, and has tired through verdict and penalty ithree of those c': tal'cases; and WHEREAS; za Sunne Chapot has been honored:as they Defender of the Year by.Women 'Defenders, and at an early point in her career,served t-,vo terms as President;of the Contra Costa Bar`Association; Pzi 'q and r K: WHEREAS;; Suzanne Chapot has arrived earlier rand worked more assiduously ev>ery working hour of the day to .insure ahe "support of attorneys and staff than any::other':attorney ui tire` history of the Department; and WHEREAS, Suzanne CliaiD&has been a mentor to scores of the younger attorneys she has supervised; a tireless, supportive andiiiernod6nWcomposed manager;•and aconfidant/editoi-in-chief for the Public Defender for many years;' NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board .of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa acknowledges and thanks Suzanne Chap" �� or lien dedicated service to the Office of Public Defender, the clients of that Office and the pe e of thi C unty on the occasion of his retirement as an employee of Contra Costa County.
