SUBJ: RELISTED to undetermined date to APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and
Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Guardian
Security Agency, effective April 24, 2007, to increase the payment limit by $5,000 to a
new payment limit of$45,000 with no change in the term of July 1, 2006 through June
30, 2007 to provide continuing temporary security guard services.

SUBJECT: Contract amendment with Guardian Security Agency for temporary and
unanticipated security guard services
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract
amendment with Guardian Security Agency, effective April 24, 2007 to increase the payment limit by$5,000 to
a new payment limit of$45,000 with no change in the term of July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007 to provide
continued temporary and unanticipated security guard services.

FISCAL IMPACT:
$45,000: 10% County, 10% State, 80% Federal
BACKGROUND:
The Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) contracts with the Health Services Department to
provide Public Security Officers (PSOs) at various EHSD locations. EHSD also contracts directly with Guardian
Security Agency to provide security personnel services at EHSD locations when the PSO's are on vacation,
sick, on alternate work schedules, for nights and weekend work, and for special assignments. EHSD requires
lea contingency contract with Guardian Security Agency for limited unanticipated contingent security needs that
i can be utilized when the PSO positions are vacant, EHSD requires security coverage for nights and weekend
work, and/or have time limited and short term assignments.

BACKGROUND (continued): •
Upon request of EHSD, Guardian Security Agency provides security personal services to perform temporary
and unanticipated security guard services to safeguard equipment and property prepare reports, conduct visual
checks of areas in and around EHSD suites, monitor, and respond at the request of staff to unauthorized
visitors to insure the safety of visitors and employees at various EHSD sites.
