These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: The County, through the Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department, operates a full-time kitchen that provides nutritious meals and snacks daily for over 2,400 children served by the Department's early care and education centers. On November 15, 2006, the Board approved an agreement for the Department to provide meal service at the Department's former Fairgrounds Childcare Center in Antioch, which was, at that time, under operation through a separate agreement between the County and the Antioch Partnership for Quality Childcare, Inc. This agreement continues the meal service at the Center, which will now be operated by First Baptist Church of Pittsburg, through a separate agreement between the County and the agency. Approval of this agreement will allow for the continued provision of food service, for which the County will bill the agency at the agreed upon daily reimbursement rates.
