RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20255 to RELLOCATE the salaries of the following classifications on the
salary schedule: Junior Radiologic Technologist(V8WC) [represented]from salary level QT5-1423 ($4,202-5,107)to salary
level QT5-1556 ($4,794-5,826); Senior Radiologic Technologist (V8VA) [represented] from salary level QT5-1604 ($5,026-
6,110) to salary level QT5-1737 ($5,734-6,970); Ultrasound Technologist I (V8VD) [represented] from salary level QT5-
1643 ($5,224-5,760) to salary level QT5-1853 ($6,432-7,091); Ultrasound Technologist II (V8TB) [represented] from salary
level QT5-1636 ($5,188-6,306) to salary level QT5-1846 ($6,388-7,764); Assistant Diagnostic Imaging Manager (V8HC)
[unrepresented] from salary level B85-1699 ($5,522-6,712) to salary level B85-1909 ($6,799-8,264); Diagnostic Imaging
Manager(V8HB) [unrepresented]from salary level B85-1900($6,738-8,191)to salary level B85-2110($8,296-10,084).
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total cost associated with this action will result in an annual increased general fund cost of$343,928.00. This amount
may be offset due to an increase in the Department's ability to hire and retain staff and a corresponding reduction in the
need for the use of overtime and registry services.

BACKGROUND:
The Health Services Department has requested a salary review of the Radiologic Technologist class series, Ultrasound
Technologist Gass series,Assistant Diagnostic Imaging Manager and the Diagnostic Imaging Manager classifications. Staff
conducted an external salary survey, the results of which show the County's salary level for these classifications are
significantly below the median.
The Diagnostic Imaging Unit has been experiencing recruiting and retention issues, and many of their current employees
are working an excessive amount of overtime in order to maintain patient services. In addition, the department has had to
rely on registry services to fill existing vacancies.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted, the incumbents will not be appropriately compensated for duties performed and the
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, Diagnostic Imaging Unit will continue to experience recruiting and retention issues.
