SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: APPOINT the following individual to the Human Relations Commission to complete the term expiring November 4, 2007 and to a new term expiring November 4, 2010: Name Walter K. Civic Drive #410 Walnut Creek, CA 94596 I BACKGROUND: The Human Relations Commission was established in September 1986 to foster peaceful relations in the interest of preserving the public peace among citizens of different races, religions and national origins; and to promote positive human relationship for the purpose of insuring public peace, health, safety and the general welfare. The Commission consists of 18 members and one alternate. The Internal Operations Committee reviews nominations to all seats on the Commission. The Internal Operations Committee, at its April 16 meeting, approved the nomination for appointment.
