Weir, County Clerk-Recorder of55 i 40 DATE: March 13, 2007 STA �a�;�Y County SUBJECT: APPROVE THE REQUEST OF THE KNIGHTSEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CONSOLIDATE ELECTIONS WITH STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTIONS. SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S)AND BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve the request of the Knightsen Elementary School District to consolidate elections with Statewide General Elections. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Revenues will go down for odd year elections and will go up slightly for even numbered year elections. REASON FOR RECOMMENDATIONIBACKGROUND: On March 2, 2007, a copy of Resolution No. 2-28-07B adopted by the Knightsen Elementary School District Board of Directors on February 28,2007 was received by the Clerk of The Board office to consolidate with the even numbered year elections. Pursuant to Election Code 10402.5, any State, County, Municipal, Special & School Districts, election consolidation may only be denied if the Board of Supervisor finds that the ballot style,voting equipment, or company capacity cannot handle the election. By approving their consolidation request, the Board is allowing the jurisdiction to share costs where their jurisdictional boundaries overlap. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Knightsen Elementary School District would be subject to higher election costs in an odd year election.
