County �A co DATE: APRIL 10, 2007 Q_ SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR CONTRACTED_l SECURITY GUARD SERVICES SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the General Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with.Guardian Security Agency in an amount not to exceed $220,000 for the provision of contracted security guard services for the Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau's childcare centers for the period January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007.. (100% State/Federal funds) (All Districts) FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is funded through a combination of Federal Head Start and State Child Development funds. Funding is currently included in the department's FY 2006-07 budget and will be included in the FY 2007-08 budget. There is no net County cost. These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: The General Services Department has had a purchase order for this company to provide security guard services since January 2004. This board order will authorize the General Services Department to issue a new purchase order for the period of January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007. Approval of this order will allow the continued provision of security at the Community Services Bureau's childcare centers.
