RECOMMENDATION:
ADD one (1) Senior Transportation Planner I (5AWA-U n represented) position; CANCEL one (1)
Transportation Planner (5AH B-U n represented) position #506.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The total annual cost associated with this action is $124,932 and will be funded from Measure C, gas
tax and land use development application Fees (non-General Fund monies).
BACKGROUND:
This action is being requested by the Community Development to provide professional transportation
planning staff support to the Transportation Planning Division. The Division has been unable to fill
vacant Transportation Planner positions for some time due to recruiting issues and competing cities
with higher salaries and benefits.
The recent Senior Transportation Planner recruitment resulted in two permanent offers.. The
requested position will assist the department in expediting their recent permanent employment offer.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Insufficient professional transportation planning support staff to the Transportation Planning Division.
