FISCAL IMPACT: The total annual cost associated with this action is $83,952. . This action is 100% funded by State and Federal sources. BACKGROUND: The Community Outreach Aide position has been vacant since May 22, 2006 and duties of this position have been absorbed by other Community Outreach Aides. The Social Service Employment Placement Counselor will be assigned to the Workforce Services Welfare-to-Work unit. Currently, Workforce Services is not meeting the established performance placement outcomes and is at risk of losing $2 million in State funding. It is necessary to add this position to ensure continued funding streams. The Social Service Employment Placement Counselor will be responsible for placement and retention of Welfare-to-Work clients which includes coordinating schedules and referring clients for job opportunities; maintaining contact with employers to provide post-placement assistance; and working collaboratively with case managers to keep them apprised of potential employer availability and possible employment leads for the clients. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the department will not be able to provide required levels of performance placement outcomes established by the State and ultimately result in a revenue loss of$2 million.
