FINANCIAL IMPACT With additional state funding, the County will be able to provide more services to the elderly and frail population of Contra Costa County. j BACKGROUND Contra Costa County has received over 4,866 reports of elder and dependent adult abuse over the last three years. Since 2000, statewide percentages for Adult Protective Services cases have seen a 34% increase in the number of reports since 2000, have experienced a 31% increase in investigations, and cases of financial abuse among elders are up by 21%. Despite the increasing number of cases, State funding for Adult Protective Services has remained static and even eroded as the number of abuse reports grows. It is imperative that,the Legislature allocate an additional $20 million to the current funding given Adult Protective Services pI rograms. Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County supports a $20 million increase in State funding for the Adult Protective Services program and encourages the Legislature to appropriate such funds.
