The CBO Center's mission is to build the professional capacity of community benefit organizations serving the
East Bay. There are more than 4,000 nonprofit agencies in Contra Costa County providing thousands of
residents with needed social services. These agencies play an important role along with County agencies in
improving the wellbeing of people in every district of the County. The CBO Center provides technical assistance
and professional capacity building services, many free of charge, designed to improve the ability of the
County's nonprofit agencies to provide vital health, human and social services to local residents.
The CBO Center fills a serious need that many nonprofits have, that is, improving their professional capacity, by
facilitating and/or developing training and technical assistance resources; promoting communication between
community based organizations and the public and private sectors; assisting community based organizations to
attract developing and retaining high quality staff; identifying funding sources interested in capacity building;
and, providing a forum to explore critical issues and foster collaboration.
