FROM: Lori Gentles, Director of Human Resources ; COSTA DATE: March 6, 2007 '' ,; 'r -y�� COUNTY SUBJECT: Resolution No. 2007//4lroviding General Salary Increases for the Classifications of DA Chief of Inspectors, DA lieutenant of Inspectors and Lieutenant of Inspectors-Welfare Fraud RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. 2007//"' roviding for a program of compensation and benefits for the job classifications of DA Chief of Inspectors-Exempt (6KD1) [unrepresented], DA Lieutenant of Inspectors (6KNB) [unrepresented], and Lieutenant of Inspectors-Welfare Fraud (6KWG) [unrepresented]. FISCAL IMPACT: The FY 2006/07 General Fund cost of approximately$35,000 will be absorbed within the Department's current appropriation level. The impact will result in a reduced fund balance in a like amount. The on-going cost of approximately $132,000 is a General Fund expense which will be requested as part of the FY 2007/08 budget. BACKGROUND: This Resolution would provide employees in job classifications of DA Chief of Inspectors-Exempt(6KD1), DA Lieutenant of Inspectors (6KNB), and Lieutenant of Inspectors-Welfare Fraud (6KWG) who are designated as safety employees (for retirement plan purposes), a general wage increase as follows- October 1, 2006 Wages: 2% October 1, 2007 Wages: 2% March 1, 2008 Wages: 2% Sixth Salary Step: Effective January 1, 2008 the County shall add a sixth step of 2.5% if applicable, in base pay to the salary range for classifications listed above. The time between steps shall be as follows: 6 months between Step 1 and 2. The time between Step 2 and Step 3 shall be 12 months. The time between Step 3 and Step 4 shall be 12 months. The time between Step 4 and Step 5 shall be 12 months. The time between Step 5 and Step 6 shall be 18 months. The total shall be 60 months (5 years)from Step 1 to Step 6. Fraud THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS in its capacity as governing Board of the County of Contra Costa and all districts of which it is ex-officio governing Board.RESOLVES THAT: WHEREAS, The Board adopted Resolution No. 2002/615 that provides for a program of compensation and benefits for the classifications of DA Chief of Inspectors-Exempt (6KD1), DA Lieutenant of Inspectors (6KNB), and Lieutenant of Inspectors-Welfare Fraud (6KWG) who are designated as safety employees (for retirement plan purposes); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 2002/615 is amended to provide the following: A general wage increase for the period October 1, 2005 through June 30, 2008: October 1, 2006 Wages: 2% October 1, 2007 Wages: 2% March 1, 2008 Wages: 2% Sixth Salary Step: Effective January 1, 2008 the County shall add a sixth step of 2.5% if applicable, in base pay to the salary range for the classifications of DA Chief of Inspectors-Exempt (6KD1), DA Lieutenant of Inspections (6KNB), and Lieutenant of Inspections-Welfare Fraud (6KWG). The provisions of this Resolution may be amended administratively from time to time as a result of actions such as the addition of new job classes that are subsequently adopted by the Board, classes that are subsequently abolished or retitled, and other classes that may have been inadvertently excluded from this Resolution.
