L l � SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20265,ADDING three(3) permanent full time(40/40) Environmental Health Specialist II (VLVA) positions at salary level QT51759($5,860-$7,123) [Represented] FISCAL IMPACT: Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of$363,819.42 which will be completely funded by generated plan review and permit fees. This action will result in no net County cost. BACKGROUND: The Health Services Department has requested the addition of these positions due to the mandates set forth by the CURFEL law (California Retail Food Facilities Law)which requires the review of construction plans within twenty days of submission and the Division has not been able to keep up with this regulation due to being short staffed. Additionally, effective July 1, 2007, a new food safety law, CalCode(California Retail Food Code)will require the EH Division to be responsible for inspecting an additional 650 facilities. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this request is not approved, it will severely affect the Environmental Health Division's ability to conduct inspections that ensure the safety of the citizens of Contra Costa County and will lead to the Division's inability to ensure compliance with CURFEL (California Retail Foord Facilities Law) and CalCode(California Retail Food Code)laws.
