Comments:
I am concerned about the lack of response and concern for Bay Point residents
by Pittsburg Disposal. I have called them many times about the fact that
everyone in my neighborhood is awakened by very loud trucks between 5:30 and
6:00 every Tuesday, and much earlier during daylight savings time. They run
the trash compactors in the neighborhood, and the trucks are very loud. I am
NOT suggesting that the garbage be left uncollected, but I pay the same rate
as everyone else in Contra Costa County, and if that much noise is necessary,
then the route should be staggered so that we all share the misery. I have
made this proactive suggestin and have been ignored. I have presented to Bay
Point MAC on multiple occassions, and while they were concerned, they were
unable to assist me due to the response of Supervisor Glover's office, or so I
was told. I contacted Supervisor Glover's office last year and received a
reply on 07./25/06 that did not address my issue or help me. The repl
y insinuated that I wanted the trash collection to stop altogether and simply
stated that Pittsburg disposal was functioning within the contract. I feel
that we are left without a choice when county contracts do not require any
respect for residents from the vendors selected. The office manager at
Pittsburg Disposal, Jim Nedgely, does not return my calls and is not helpful
when asked about this matter. Vicki Zumwalt from Bay Point MAC called him and
stated that he was not helpful with her either. I was told that my options
were to "put up with it like everyone else in Bay Point" or "Move. " The
problem is, only those early on the collection route are jarred out of our
beds at ungodly hours. I presented a letter signed by 10 neigbors last year
and got no where. I get better results by getting up and screaming at the
garbage collector when he runs the trash compactor, which have resorted to
recently. We are really tired of being treated like second class citizens in
Bay
Point. It seems like requiring basic respect for citizens and sta
