FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the County General Fund. The voting membership of the committee will serve on a
voluntary basis and will not be paid by the County.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
On August 4, 1992,the Board of Supervisors formed the Countywide Bicycle Advisory Committee which provides
input to Contra Costa County and the cities in the County on bicycle projects for Transportation Development Act
funds to construct bicycle/pedestrian projects. Committee membership includes a representative from each of the
supervisorial districts, bicycle organizations, the bicycle industry and three agencies, including the Mayors'
Conference.
The previous representative from the Mayors' Conference,Mayor Brian Swisher from Brentwood, did not seek re-
election and therefore needed a replacement. The Mayors' Conference unanimously voted to recommend the Board
of Supervisors appoint Mark Ross, Martinez City Council, to the Countywide Bicycle Advisory Committee.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Committee vacancies would not be filled and would limit the committee's ability to function as an advisory
body to the County Board of Supervisors.
