BACKGROUND: The Health.Services Department has requested a reallocation of the Assistant Director of Environmental Health Services salary by 5.1°/o due to significant salary compaction that will occur between the Supervising Environmental Health Specialist classification and the Assistant Director of Environmental Health classification due to pending equity adjustments for all of the Environmental Health classifications. HR Staff has found that there will be significant salary compaction between the Supervising Environmental Health Specialist and the Assistant Director of Environmental Health Services. There will be only a 1.8% differential between the top steps of these two classifications. This action will alleviate the salary compaction between the Supervising Environmental Health Specialist and the Assistant Director of Environmental Health Services by increasing the differential between the top steps to 7%. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this request is not approved, there will be significant salary compaction between the Supervising Environmental Health Specialist and the Assistant Director of Environmental Health Services.
