RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution #20230 to INCREASE HOURS of Registered Nurse Experienced Level
(VWXD-Represented) position #9865, #12235 and #10606 and Charge Nurse (VWTF-Represented) position
#12171 in accordance with the MOU between Contra Costa County and the California Nurses Association.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The Health Services Department has estimated an annual cost of$75,464.36 with this request and is offset by
the elimination of the overtime incurred by the employees working over their designated position hours.
BACKGROUND:
The Health Services Department is requesting to increase the hours of Registered Nurse Experienced Level
position #9865, #12235 and #10606 and Charge Nurse position #12171.
The hours of these positions are being increased in accordance with the agreement between the County and
the California Nurses Association. The employees have consistently worked over their assigned position hours
during the period of April 1, 2006 through September 30, 2006.
The Health Services Department has agreed that the workload of the above positions is sufficient enough to
warrant the increase in hours.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted, the County will be out of compliance with the California Nurses Association
agreement.
