SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20217, reallocating the salary of Principal Building
Inspector (FAVE). (Unrepresented)
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, this action will result in an annual cost of $12,712. This position is 100% funded by
permit fees.
BACKGROUND:
The Department requests the reallocation of the Principal Building Inspector classification due to the
5% salary increase given to represented staff in the Building and Grading Inspector series and the
Building Plan Checker series during labor negotiations. The increase has resulted in compaction.
Currently, the classifications of Senior Building Inspector and Principal Building Inspector are only
separated by 1.1%. With the reallocation of Principal Building Inspector, the salary gap between the
respective classifications will return to 5.0%.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The consequence of negative action will result in the continued compaction of salary between Senior
Building Inspector and Principal Building Inspector.
