SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
"T, AAAPROVE a Second Addendum to Lease with the Metcalf Family Living Trust, commencing
March 1, 2007, and ending February 28, 2010, for 1,115 square feet of office space located at
3685 Mt. Diablo Boulevard, Suite 120, Lafayette, for continued occupancy by the Building
Inspection Department, under the terms and conditions more particularly set forth in the Second
Addendum to Lease.
2. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services, or designee, to EXECUTE the Lease Addendum
on behalf of the County.
3. DETERMINE that the project is a Class 1 Categorical Exemption under the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
4. DIRECT the Director of Community Development, or designee, to file a Notice of Exemption with
the County Clerk, and DIRECT the Director of General Services, or designee, to arrange for the
payment of the handling fees to the Community Development Department and County Clerk for
filing of the Notice of Exemption.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Lease Addendum will obligate the County .to pay total rent of approximately $108,360 over the
three-year term of the Lease Addendum. The Addendum of the Lease was anticipated and budgeted
in the Building Inspection Department's approved FY 2006/07 budget.
BACKGROUND
The County has leased the premises since January 1, 2001. This Lease Addendum will provide for
the continued use of 1,115 square feet of office space, as requested by the Building Inspection
Department.

SECOND ADDENDUM TO LEASE
This Second Addendum, made this 6th day of February, 2007 is to that certain Lease dated November 14,
2000 and First Addendum dated July 14, 2003 ("Lease") between METCALF FAMILY LIVING TRUST,
hereinafter called ("Landlord") and THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, a political subdivision of the State of
California, hereinafter called ("County"). This Second Addendum shall be deemed incorporated into and
made a part of the Lease. The terms, covenants, and conditions of this Second Addendum shall supersede the
provisions of the Lease. Except as so modified, all the terms and conditions of the Lease as amended shall
remain in full force and effect. In the event of any inconsistency or conflicts between the provisions of the
Lease and this Second Addendum,the provisions of this Second Addendum shall apply.
Basic Lease provisions:
DESIGNATION
OF PREMISES: 3685 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Suite 120, in Lafayette consisting of
approximately one thousand one hundred fifteen (1,115) rentable
square feet.
MONTHLY RENTAL
INSTALLMENTS: Months 1 — 12: $2,955.00 per month
Months 13—24: $3,010.00 per month
Months 25—36: $3,065.00 per month
TAXES AND OPERATING
EXPENSE BASE: 2007 base year.
LEASE TERM: Three(3)years.
TERM COMMENCEMENT
DATE: March 1,2007
IMPROVEMENTS: "As-Is"
EXTENSION: County will be granted an Extension Option pursuant to the terms of
A.8 of the Lease.
