SUBJECT: CONTRACT AMENDMENT WITH LOS MEDANOS COLLEGE TO
INCREASE PAYMENT FOR ADDITIONAL CLASSROOM COUNSELING
BACKGROUND:
The Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County (WDB) obtained a Walter S.
Johnson Foundation Grant supplemented by Workforce Investment Act Youth Formula Funds to
develop and provide programs designed to help disadvantaged youth and students to develop
"soft skills" necessary to succeed in college and in the workplace. These programs will have the
added benefit of helping students satisfy pre-requisites for math and English for subsequent
enrollment in college and career pathways programs. Los Medanos College (LMC) developed
these programs ("Bridge Program" and "Pre-Bridge Program")for application in East County
through their campus in Pittsburg. (#18-106-2)
