(Budgeted: 100%Federal Workforce Investment Act) (All Districts) FINANCIAL, IMPACT: $575,000: 100%Federal Workforce Investment Act Funds CHII,DRFN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2) "Children and Youth�Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families," by assisting with training and employment services. RACKGROUND: This Board Order will authorize the Employment and Human Services Department, on behalf of the Workforce Development Board(WDB), to continue the services provided by the Oakland Private Industry Council, Inc. (OPIC). In Spring 2000, the EASTBAY Works Consortium, of which the Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa(WDB) is a member, selected OPIC, a member organization, to serve as procurement and pay agent for training vendors on behalf of all EASTBAY Works partner agencies. In this capacity, OPIC is responsible, on behalf of WDB, for contracting with and paying training vendors who provide Workforce Investment Act (WIA) related job and skills training to clients served by WDB.
