County SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement 974-225-52(1) with The Lucas Center SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Donna Wigand) to execute on behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement #74-225-52(1) with The Lucas Center, a corporation, effective May 1, 2006, to amend Contract #74-225-52, to increase the Contract payment limit by $162,000, from $100,000 to a new total of $262,000, with no change in the original term of April 1, 2005 through June 30, 2007. FISCAL IMPACT: This Amendment is funded 49% by State and 51% Federal FFP Medi-Cal finds. This Amendment is needed to sustain the cost of increased services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): On January 14, 1997, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution #97/17, authorizing the Health Services Director to contract with the State Department of Mental Health to assume responsibility for Medi-Cal mental health specialty services. Responsibility for outpatient mental health specialty services involves contracts with individual, group and organizational providers to deliver these services. On March 8, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74-225-52 with The Lucas Center for the period from April 1, 2005 through June 30, 2007, for the provision of Medi-Cal mental health specialty services. Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #74-225-52(1) will allow the Contractor to provide additional services through June 30, 2007.
