SUBJECT: Contract Amendment with Steve Gray to provide Domestic Violence Liaison Services
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Interim Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a
contract amendment with Steve Gray, effective June 30, 2006, to increase the payment limit by$14,833 to a
new payment limit of$58,833 and to extend the term from June 30, 2006 to October 31, 2006 to provide
Domestic Violence Liaison Services. (Budget: Administrative Overhead: 20% County; 40% State; 40%
Federal) (All Districts)

This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 1)
"Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive
Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and
Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,"
by providing domestic violence liaison services.
'BACKGROUND-
Mr. Gray provides Domestic Violence (DV) case-specific consultation, guidance, and support to Employment
and Human Services Department (EHSD), Children and Family Services (CFS) and other agencies addressing
domestic violence and developing interventions which include safety plans for family members affected by
violence.
Mr. Gray will provide DV services countywide. He will facilitate CFS interface with other agencies and
maintain a resource of domestic violence providers.
Mr. Gray possesses an extensive law enforcement background that includes interfacing with the District
Attorney Office, Police Department, and local domestic violence agencies on domestic violence issues. His
skills are essential to helping CFS workers better assist families with domestic violence problems.
This contract is for a limited period of time while the Department evaluates the continuing need for these
services to determine how best to provide them. (21-644)
