SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Interim Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute contract amendment with Linetta Cooper, effective June 30, 2006, to increase the payment limit by$8,866 to a new contract payment limit of$36,706 and to extend the term from June 30, 2006 to October 31, 2006 to provide additional services assisting the North Richmond Empowerment Collaborative Project Manager in maintaining the Family Apparel Shop. (Budgeted: No County funds; 100%private foundation funding) (District I) FINANCIAL IMPACT: $36,706: No County funds; 100%private foundation funding CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATFMF,NTs This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families," by providing services that assist parents in finding employment and becoming self-sufficient. BACKGROUND_ Ms. Cooper provides support to the North Richmond Empowerment Collaborative Project Manager in maintaining the Family Apparel Shop. She provides support through assisting clients in product selection, preparing and stocking inventory, maintaining a clean and friendly atmosphere, and providing clerical support as needed. This contract.is for a limited period of time while the Department evaluates the continuing need for these services to determine how best to provide them.
