SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and Authorize the Employment and Human Services Interim Director,or designee, to execute a contract with Contra Costa Crisis Center in an amount not to exceed $40,288 for the management and maintenance of a comprehensive countywide health and human services database during the period July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. (Budgeted: 20% County; 40% State; 40%o Federal) (All districts) FINANCIAL IMPACT: $40,288: 20% County funds; 40% State funds; 40% Federal funds CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families," by comprehensive database for clients to access for County resources. BACKGROUND* Contra Costa Crisis Center will continue to manage and maintain the comprehensive countywide health and human services database with extensive and current health and human services information. In collaboration with Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services Department, and Community Services Department, the database provides information for emergency shelter, food,job training, medical care, childcare, substance abuse counseling, mental health treatment, conflict resolution, legal services, and more. The database provides the most accurate and current information and is accessible on the Internet for all County employees, local non-profit agencies and County residents. It is the basis for the publication of regional guides for the Network of Care website, 60,000 of which were downloaded and distributed last year, and for the 2-1-1 information system. Contra Costa Crisis Center has extensive experience developing and maintaining a database of health and human services information. The project obtains regular input from county departments and community based organizations and provides a website facilitating access to information.
