Yz1aa FROM: Danna Fabella, Interim Director '• ti�4° County Employment and Human Services Department °°srq�o;;�; `� DATE: June 5 2006 SUBJECT: Approve and Authorize the Employment and Human Services Interim Director, or designee, to execute a contract with FamiliesFirst, Inc., in the amount of$672,200.00 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and Authorize the Employment and Human Services Interim Director, or designee, to execute a contract with FamiliesFirst, Inc., in the amount of$672,200, to provide Kinship Support Services for the period July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. (Budgeted: 4%Federal Kinship Support Service Program; 34% State Kinship Support Service Program; 53% State Family Preservation Program; 9% FACT private funds) (All Districts) FINANCIAL IMPACT: $672,200: 4%Federal Promoting Safe and Stable Families Program; 34% State Kinship Support Service Program; 53% State Family Preservation Program; 9%FACT private funds CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families," by providing Kinship Support Services. BACKGROUND: FamiliesFirst, Inc. was selected from a competitive procurement, Request for Proposal (RFP) #1076, to provide Family Enhancement Collaborative (FEC) services to the Children and Family Services (CFS)Bureau. Services under the Family Enhancement Collaborative include shared family care, kinship, and family preservation. The Kinship Support Service Program provides multiple support services to help relative caregivers and children remain safe, healthy and nurturing. Kinship services include site based mentoring services where parents with children in the Child Welfare System live with mentor families and receive a variety of professional services so the family can become self-sufficient, safe, and remain together.
