SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and Authorize the Employment and Human Services Interim Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Contra Costa Crisis Center in an amount not to exceed $50,000 for 24-hour Emergency Response Program telephone services for the period July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. (Budgeted: Administrative Costs: 20% County; 40%Federal; 40% State) (All Districts) FINANCIAL IMPACT: $50,000 EHSD Administrative Costs: 20% County, 40%Federal, 40% State CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT* This contract supports three of the five community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families" by providing individuals a means to address crisis issues. BACKGROUND* This Board Order will authorize Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) to execute a contract with the Contra Costa Crisis Center to provide 24-hour Emergency Response Program telephone services to support both the Children and Family Services (CFS) Division and the Aging and Adult Services (AAS) Division. Contractor will provide twenty-four(24) hour crisis line telephone support, referrals and immediate intervention and counseling to at-risk children and adults dealing with critical issues such as suicide, homelessness, grief, abuse, neglect. The Contra Costa Crisis Center assists EHSD meet its obligations under the federally mandated 24-hour Children's Protective Services Emergency Response Program.
