Contra FROM: William Walker M.D. Health Services Director .� Costa By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator County ra DATE: June 7, 2006 SUBJECT: Approval of Novation Contract#28-556-11 with the City of Martinez C_ SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONN: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.) to execute on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #28-556-11 with the City 'of Martinez, a public Agency, to pay County an amount not to exceed $11,600, to provide congregate meal services for County's Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. This Novation Contract includes a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2007, in an amount not to exceed $2,900. FISCAL IMPACT: No County funds are required. BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides an average of 40 congregate meals per day, five days per week for senior citizens at its Martinez Senior Citizens Center. On September 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #28-556-10 with the City of Martinez, for the period from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006, (which included a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2006) for the provision of congregate meal services for County's Senior Nutrition Program. FISCAL IMPACT: The Contractor will pay County the net project income received from participants, after adjustment for allowable costs. No County cost is included. On September 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #29-335-18 with the City of El Cerrito for the period from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006, (which included a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2006) for the provision of congregate meal services for County's Senior Nutrition Program. Approval of Novation Contract #29-335-19 replaces the automatic extension under the prior Contract and allows the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2007. This Novation Contract includes a three- month automatic extension through September 30,2007, in an amount not to exceed$11,580. FISCAL IMPACT: No County funds are required. BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides anaverage of 450 meals per day, five days per week to designated senior citizens' homes in the cities of Richmond, North Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Pinole, Rodeo, Crockett and the unincorporated areas surrounding these cities. On September 13, 2005, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #28-559-11 with West Contra Costa County Meals on Wheels, for the period from July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006, (which included a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2006) for the provision of congregate meal services for County's Senior Nutrition Program. Approval of Novation Contract #28-559-12 will replace the automatic extension under the prior Contract and will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2007.
