Reasons for Recommendations and Backuround:
David Gates and Associates are currently providing landscape architectural services for the Parker Avenue
Reconstruction and Landscape improvements project, Rodeo area. This revitalization project was originally
scheduled to start construction in summer 2005, however utility issues delayed its start to this summer. Due to
this construction delay, an extension to David Gates and Associates' contract is necessary in order for them to
complete their work. Specifically, this contract amendment will allow them to review, approve, and inspect
landscaping and irrigation components of the project to insure they meet project requirements.
Consequences of Negative Action:
If the contract amendment is not approved with David Gates and Associates, the landscaping and irrigation
components of the project will not be reviewed and approved prior to installation, nor inspected after
installation, likely leading to an inferior completed project.
