HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06132006 - PR.2 PR.2 June 13, 2006 Board of Supervisors Meel[ng� HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION 2006 RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS AWARDS The Random Acts of kindness award is,presented by the Human Relations Commission to honor the various citizens in each of the supervisorial districts who have gone out of their way to assist other individuals throughout the County. Each of the award recipients has, in his or her own respective ways, been heroic in extending themselves to their neighbors and to the community, as well as perfect strangers. The youth awardees have dedicated themselves collectively with over 3500 hours of unpaid community service throughout Contra Costa County, albeit attending school and achieving good grades in the process. Z3 It is the RRCs understanding that you have requested this event take place as soon as possiee Program Committee has established 2 tentative dates for the BOS to consider, �-. respectfully request a minimum of 30 minutes for the presentation of the awards, which shall include 2-3 minutes for each Supervisor to speak on the topic of human kindness or about the act(s) of kindness of their district's recipient, followed by the presentation of the award scrolls. The number of award recipients for this event is 12, and will be selected as follows: 5 (1 adult recipient from each supervisor from his or her respective district) 7 (5 adults, 1 Sheriff Dept. employee, and 1 youth recipient from the HRC) Please provide us with the date and time that would work best for the BOS soon so that the Program Committee can proceed with obtaining media coverage and planning the event.
