RECOMMENDATION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff, or designee, to sign a contract with the State of California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) to accept an amount not to exceed $22,320 for the presentation of P.O.S.T. certified Driving Simulator Instructor courses by the Law Enforcement Training Center during the period of July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: This contract agreement will allow the Office of the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Training Center to recover costs associated with the presentation of Driving Simulator Instructor Training. III. BACKGROUND: In January of 2001, the Office of the Sheriff took over the operation of the Law Enforcement Training Center. One of the courses required by P.O.S.T. is the Driving Simulator Instructor Training. P.O.S.T. provides funding for agencies that present this training. This contract allows the Law Enforcement Training Center to provide the 24 hour Driving Simulator Instructor Course to 48 students at a cost not to exceed $465.00 per student.
