The facility is in a ideal location for contra-costa residents who are in need of a reputable and caring medical cannabis .dispensery. The facility is very private and wheelchair accessibale,with ample parking.' The staff is very compassionate and treats patients like family. There are many other dispenseries, but none within 20 or so miles from Mari*cares location, and many are in run down areas where crime is, and was there before them( oakland, hayward, berkely and SF) . To keep uprooting Mari*care is not beneficial for the patient and there medical needs. Please accept my concerns and support for Mari*care and its current location. There are many other dispenseries., but none within 20 or so miles from Mari*cares location, and many are in run down areas where crime is, and was there before them( oakland, hayward, berkely and SF) . The issue was referred to me for response. On April 11, 2006, the Board of Supervisors adopted an Urgency Interim Ordinance (Ordinance No. 2006712)prohibiting the establishment of medical marijuana dispensaries for the duration of the Ordinance (45 days). On May 23, 2006, the Board will consider extending the Urgency Interim Ordinance until April 10, 2007. Therefore, at this time we cannot authorize your request to establish a medical marijuana dispensary at the above-mentioned site. In response to the Board's action, the Community Development Department has initiated a coordinated effort between various County Departments to formulate and adopt permanent zoning regulations to address the issues typically related to marijuana dispensaries including traffic congestion, parking and proximity to schools, parks, churches, etc. Input from you regarding this issue would be appreciated, so feel.free to write or call. Pursuant to Government Code, §65858 (d), the following taken to alleviate the condition that led to the adoption of the inter rom di nance-� (Ordinance No. 2006-12) On April 11, 2006, the Board of Supervisors adopted an urgency interim ordinance prohibiting the establishment of medical marijuana dispensaries in all areas of unincorporated Contra Costa County. The ordinance was adopted in order to provide the County an opportunity to formulate and adopt permanent zoning regulations addressing the establishment of medical marijuana dispensaries. Unless the Board of Supervisors authorizes an extension, the interim ordinance will expire on May 26, 2006. Additional time .is needed in order for the Community Development Department to research, analyze and prepare an ordinance addressing medical marijuana dispensaries. Staff has taken additional measures to alleviate the conditions that led the Board to adopt the Urgency Interim Ordinance.
