WHEREAS, Dave Brubeck was born on December 6, 1920 in Concord, California and at the age of 15 was
performing professionally with local jazz groups. In 1938, he entered the College of the Pacific in
Stockton, California for pre-veterinary studies. Only a year later he had changed his major to music,
graduating in 1942;and
WHEREAS, Dave Brubeck Joined the Arley ui X1942 .and servedin Southern California for 2 years before
being sent to Europe as-zrifleman Eventually, hewas chosen to dead a band that towed the front
lines in Patton's army;
