SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Jeff Smith, M.D.), to execute on
behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26.570 with Nightingale of Contra
Costa, LLC, for the provision of clinical experience for Health Care students, for the period from
June 1, 2006 through May 31, 2009.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S)FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor's students with the opportunity to integrate
academic knowledge with application skills and attitudes at progressively higher levels of
performance requirements and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork experience for students is
considered to be an integral part of both the educational and professional preparation. The Health
Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, taking
advantage of the students' services to patients.
Under this Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-570 the Nightingale of Contra Costa students
will receive field instruction and experience at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and the Contra
Costa Health Centers through May 31, 2009.
