SUBJECT: ONE-YEAR LEASE RENEWAL OF PREMISES TO PITTSBURG PRE-SCHOOL
COORDINATING COUNCIL, INC. BY THE HOUSING AUTHORITY
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE a one-year Lease Renewal on behalf of the Housing Authority of the County of Contra
Costa with the Pittsburg Pre-School Coordinating Council, Inc., (PSCC) for the use of 83 — 85 Treatro
Avenue , Pittsburg, CA, to provide students 12 — 18 years of age with computer training and parent
tuioring/mentoring teams, for the period of January 1, 2006 to December 31,2006 and AUTHORIZE the
Executive Director of the Housing Authority to execute said Lease Renewal.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This is a one-dollar a year lease of a building dedicated to resident services. Costs budgeted by
the Housing Authority will be incurred for gas, electric, water, sewer and refuse collection. No County
Gleneral Funds are required.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND
For several years PSCC has provided organized social services for pre-school through high school
aged children at the EI Pueblo Public Housing development and in the Pittsburg community. The activities
provided to the residents are allowable costs under the federal Housing and Urban Development
guidelines.
IV. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
IShould the Board of Commissioners elect not to authorize the Executive Director to enter into a
one-year Lease Renewal with the PSCC, the on-going services provided would no longer be available to
Public Housing residents and the surrounding community. This would be a great loss to the community of
Pittsburg, and to the EI Pueblo Housing Development.

RENEWAL OF LEASE
THIS SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT made and entered into this 1st
day of January , 2006 , by and between the HOUSING AUTHORITY OF
THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, hereinafter referred to as the "Authority",
and Pittsburg Pre-School Coordinating Council, Inc. , hereinafter to be referred
to as the "PSCC":
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, by lease agreement between the parties hereto, dated
February 1, 2002 the Authority leased to PSCC the right and
privilege of occupying space at 83-85 TREATRO AVENUE
PITTSBURG, CALIFORNIA of the Authority; and
WHEREAS, the PSCC desires and the Authority is willing that such lease
be renewed for the term of one (1) year at a cost of one-dollar.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Authority for and in consideration of the
promises and covenants in the aforesaid lease, and other valuable consideration,
the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hereby agrees that said lease shall
be, and it hereby is, renewed beginning JANUARY 1, 2006 and ending
DECEMBER 31, 2006.
The PSCC hereby covenants and agrees that during the course of the
renewal period the PSCC shall perform and be bound by all of the covenants and
conditions contained in said lease agreement of February 1, 2002
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have set their hands the day and
year first herein above set forth.
