RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20054 to add one Network Analyst II position.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Annual cost associated with this action is $136,226.00, which will be financed by charges to
users and the elimination of a contract position.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Information Technology's responsibilities over the Wide Area Network (WAN) unit
have been expanding dramatically to support the County's growing Enterprise Wide Area Network.
DOIT tried to divide up the increasing duties in this unit, but it has become evident that another
Network Analyst is needed to continue to support the needs of their customers.
The Network Analyst II duties will include providing Domain name services for private county
domains and public World Wide Web assessable domains, monitoring data traffic control policies,
overseeing Virtual Private Network (VPN) appliances, and installing, configuring, maintaining, and
designing support software as well as hardware systems.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to add the Network Analyst II position will result in a decrease of effectiveness for the Wide
Area Network unit of DoIT.
