REASONS FOR RECOMMENDA'T'IONS AND BACKGROUND:
The Crockett Recreation Association has taken the lead in the Crockett Community Center and Alexander Park
Tmprovement Project. The project includes the following improvements:
• Installing a new entrance ramp to the multipurpose room to meet ADA specifications
• Constnucting a new Senior plaza(patio) adjacent to the multipurpose room
• Constructing a trash enclosure
• Repaving the pathway around the east side and rear of the Center
• Constructing a new barbecue area with serving tables
• Removing the existing concrete patio at the rear of the Center and replacing it with interlocking pavers
Installing additional lighting at the bocce ball courts
• Tnstalling a gazebo
This is the most significant park improvement project since the Community Center and Alexander Park were
remodeled in the mid 1970'x. The entire Crockett community will benefit froin this project because of the improved
public assets, improved quality of community life and improved property values.
,The cost to complete the project was estimated to be $680,000. In 2005, the Crockett Cogeneration Return-to-
Source revenue through the Crockett Community Foundation,funded$25,000;the County Service Area P-1 share of
the project. Project cost overruns and the addition of a gazebo now necessitate additional revenue to complete the
project. The Crockett Recreation Association is managing the project and has asked the P-1 to cover approximately
50% of the overrun and gazebo costs- County Service Area P-1 recently received funding from the Crockett
Community Foundation that will cover the County Service Area's portion of the project cost. The revenue was
deposited by the Public Works Department as restricted donation revenue.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The Crockett Community Center and Alexander Park project will not be completed as proposed.
