RECOMMENDATION
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to purchase three additional
motorcycles for the Office of the Sheriff-Coroner.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Office of the Sheriff-Coroner is purchasing three motorcycles for approximately $16,047. Funds
will be transferred from the Office of Sheriff-Coroner's Off Highway Vehicle Fund to pay for the
purchase.
BACKGROUND
The Office of the Sheriff-Coroner is adding three motorcycles to be used by the Emergency Services
Support Unit for Off-Road Highway Vehicle Enforcement Program. These vehicles were not on the
approved FY2005-06 Master List for Vehicle Replacement. The estimated purchase cost of $16,047
will be funded with Off Highway Vehicle Funds from the Office of Sheriff-Coroner.
Therefore, in accordance with Administrative Bulletin No. 508: "County Vehicle and Equipment
Acquisition and Replacement Policy with Guidelines," approval is requested for the purchase of these
vehicles. Based on a review of the need for the new vehicles and consideration of alternative fueled
vehicles, the Fleet Manager recommends approval of this request, which has been reviewed and
approved by the County Administrator for consideration by the Board of Supervisors.

Subject: Off-Road Highway Vehicle (OHV) Program Expenditure (Motorcycles)
In order to support the operations of the OHV enforcement program for the Office of the Sheriff, the following
motorcycles need to be purchased. These vehicles will be utilized for OHV enforcement within Contra Costa
County by mernbers of the Reserve Program . The funds that will be utilized to make this purchase have been
obtained through the OHV Program fund,Jwhich is coordinated by the Sheriffs Fiscal Officer, Wanda Quever.
These motorcycles will be additions to the Sheriffs Fleet and maintenance costs will be recovered through the
annual OHV Fees.

The purpose of these motorcycles arel to conduct enforcement operations in support the OHV program
within the Office of the Sheriff.

Annual Maintenance and Support Costs: Support costs of these vehicles will be the responsibility of
the Emergency Services Division through the annual OHV revenue. There will be no additional costs to
