SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE CONTRACT AMENDMENT '
Specific Request(S) or Recommendation (S) & Background and Justification
RECOMMENDATION (S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Community Services Director, or designee, to execute
an interagency amendment with the Contra Costa Community College District, to increase
the payment limit by $42,187 to a new payment limit of $1,039,525 for an inflation
adjustment for the period July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
This proposed amendment is for the period of July 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006 and is
not yet included in the Department's FY 2005-06 Budget. A11 Appropriation Adjustment
reflecting this increase in funds will be submitted to the Board of Supervisors for
consideration upon approval of this request. There is no net County cost to this
amendment.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Department's child care program Supports two of Contra Costa
County's community outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School" and
"Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering
comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition. health,
and social services, along with a strong parent involvement focus, to low-income children
throughout Contra Costa County. The overall goal of the program is to bring about a
greater degree of social competence in preschool children from low-income families.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
The State Legislature has budgeted additional fiends for Child Care and Development
programs to compensate for the higher costs associated with these programs. Approval of
this amendment will allow the Community Services Department to apply these additional
funds to their current child care program.
