HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 03072006 - C.34 -` Contra TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ' Costa FROM: Danns Fabell• terim Director County Employmen Homan Services Department r= �'�" y DATE: February 22, 2006 C � 3 SUBJECT: Approve and Authorize the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to accept funding- and execute a contract with Metropolitan Transportation Commission SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to EXECUTE a grant amendment, with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to fund the Keeping Employment Equals Your Success (KEYS) Auto Loan Program, to extend the grant term from March 31, 2006 to June 30, 2007 with no change in funding. (No County Match) (All Districts) FiNA CiAi, IMPACT: 100% Metropolitan Transportation Commission Funds CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card: 1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient"; 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families," by providing transportation to low income CaiWORKs families to meet welfare-to-work requirements. BACK .ROUNDe On September 24, 2002 (Item C.30), the Board of Supervisors authorized Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) to apply for and accept Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) grant funding to fund the Keeping Employment Equals Your Success (KEYS) Auto Loan program. The KEYS Auto Loan program was developed by EHSD as a viable solution to some of the transportation issues of CaiWORKS participants. The program targets CaIWORKS participants and other low-income residents who are not able to obtain an auto loan but have clearly demonstrated a need for a personal vehicle as their only practical means of transportation. This amendment will adjust the grant terns from March 31, 2006 to June 30, 2007.
