SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20038 to CANCEL one Network Administrator II
position and ADD one Database Administrator position.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Annual cost associated with this action is $13,620.00. No general funds are associated with this
action.
BACKGROUND:
Public Works has restructured their Computer Services division t0 better serve their department's
needs by adding a position to streamline the management of numerous information systems. With
DOIT's recommendation, Staff has found that the classification of Database Administrator is the best
fit for the skills and responsibilities that this position requires.
The Database Administrators duties will include overseeing numerous information systems in the
Public Works Department, reviewing data models, participating in systems analysis, designing and
managing databases and network, and establishing procedures for database operations, control, and
recovery.
The vacancy is no longer needed and job duties have been distributed throughout the department.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to add the Database Administrator position will result in a decrease of effectiveness for the
Computer Services Division of Public Works.
