Sheriffs Executive Assistant Mary Forney )
To Commemorate her Retirement ) RESOLUTION NO. 2006/87
WHEREAS Mary.Forney was born in Oakland, California, the second of five children; and
WHEREAS Mary Forney traveled extensively throughout her childhood,.atteiided sciiools in various states, and
graduated from high school in Baumholder, Germany, as a result of her father serving(in the military; and
WHEREAS Mary Forney began her career in 1963 in the Contra Costa County Jury Commissioner's Office as a
typist clerk; and
WHEREAS Mary Forney left county employment and worked from 1972 to 1984, transcribing for court
reporters, and

WHEREAS Mary 1,orney worked for Riverview Fire District from 1984 to 1986 as an Executive Secretary; and
WHEREAS Mary Forney came to work for the Office of the Sheriff in 1986 as the Executive Secretary for
Sheriff Richard Rainey, Assistant Sheriffs Warren E. Rupf and Jerry Mitosinka; and

WHEREAS Mary Forney was recognized for the superior quality of her work, and her unending loyalty and
dedication to Sheriff Rupf and the Office of the Sheriff by her promotion to Sheriff-s Executive Assistant in
1999; and
I
WHEREAS Mary Forney has worked tirelessly and extensively with fund raising events for Sheriff Charities; and
i
WHEREAS Mary Forney served on the Board of Directors for the Micki Rainey Scholarship Fund; and
I
WHEREAS Mary Forney has been married to Jim for 28 years; has two wonderful children,Jill and Wendy, and
son-in-law, Danny, and two beautiful grandchildren, Cassie and Brennen; and
WHEREAS Mary Forney continued to faithfully serve as SheriffRupfs Executive Assistant and earn respect and
admiration for her loyalty, dedication, and sophistication, and
WI IEREAS Mary Forney has at limes been referred to as"AI '/z";

NOW THEREFORE, BE iT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the C.Ounty of Contra Costa does
hereby recognize and thank with sincere appreciation and congratulate MARY FORNEY, on her invaluable 28
years of service to the County of Contra Cos and its citize s. I
