FINANCIAL.IMPACT: $49,500: 15% County($7,425), 85%Federal($42,075) ]BACKGROUND: Ms. Zhanar Verzi was selected after a competitive bid process (Request for Interest# 172)to work as Information Systems Programmer Analyst for the Information Technology(IT)Division of Employment and Human Services(EHSD)beginning January 2043. The IT Division supports the technical needs of the entire department, including application development services. Ms. Verzi has been primarily developing and implementing the ASSIST System--a staff movements application automating the ADM 1230 and FISC 1 systems. Ms.Verzi continues to provide valuable services to the IT Division and this Board Order will renew her contract for another six (6)months to allow the completion of several pending IT projects. In this role, Mr. Boyle assesses senior transportation demand levels, determines available resources to meet the demand, and assists seniors in utilizing available transportation services. He researches funding resources for senior transportation, maintains a database of federal, state, and local resources, and provides assistance in writing grants. Mr. Boyle serves as ombudsman/facilitator for seniors and care managers, conducts staff training, and provides contract-monitoring services. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: Respite services support four of Contra Costa County's community outcomes: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and "Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families." Respite services may be used during times of crisis when a caregiver needs to be away from home or when parents or relative caregivers must pursue other activities that temporarily take them away from children whose special needs require ongoing care. BACKGROUND: This contract will allow Family Support Services of the Bay Area(FSSBA)to continue respite services for fosterp arents or relative caregivers of drug-exposed and medically fragile children with special needs between the ages 0-5 years. The goal of the respite program under the State Heritage Project, Options for Recovery Program, is to provide comprehensive,high quality in-home and out-of-home respite services to support the relative caregivers and foster parents in their full-time role as caregivers. Although FSSBA supports foster caregivers throughout Contra Costa,most of these caregivers with drug-exposed children are located primarily in Richmond west and Pittsburg(East). BACKGROUND: FutureWorks, Contractor, has developed a web-based performance analysis system called Performance Matters specifically designed to meet the reporting specifications of Title 1 B of the Workforce Investment Act WIA of 1998. WDB is currently using the system. Contractor will provide continued maintenance and technical support to the Performance Matters website and to designated users through a toll-free number during business hours. A Help Line is also available via e-mail on the site with response to questions and issues within 24 hours. Contractor will provide other database services including comparison of data performance measures, application of formulas to the data and formatting of data for customized reporting. R A("KGRO TND The Foster Parent and Relative Caregiver Training-Heritage Project provides education and training to foster parents and relative caregivers, which enhances the quality of care provided, assists children to cope with previous abuse, and supports children's ability to cope with out-of-home placement. Ongoing training is scheduled in two, thirty-six hour sessions over multiple days, or in a mutually agreed upon flexible and ongoing series of sessions to facilitate access for relative caregivers. Contra Costa Community College District will provide Foster Parent and Relative Caregiver Training-- Heritage Project services at the West Contra Costa Opus and the Los Medanos Campus to caregivers responsible for special needs children and medically fragile infants.
