Dr. Walker said it would be necessary to talk about developing partnerships with selected cities on the health of Contra Costa County. Supervisor Glover said he is concerned about the health disparities shown on the Indicators report for the African-American community in Contra Costa County. He said he would like to see more needs for care and prevention to reduce health disparities for the African-American population in Contra Costa County and feels significant community involvement is necessary. Supervisor DeSaulnier suggested getting a report card format that would show the Contra Costa County Health Services Department's initiatives to address health disparities by recruiting and retaining diverse workforce, cultural competence training and access to multiple languages in the Contra Costa County. Dr. Walker suggested placing health disparities on the Family and Human Services calendar and reporting periodically to the Board of Supervisors.
