FLIER ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE BENCH AFTER`,20 YEARS WHEREAS, Judge Flier was elected to the Superior Court Contra Costa County Bench on June 4, 1984 by the voters of Contra Costa County;and WHEREAS, Judge Flier has served the bench well and continuously since 1985, has been elected in 1990, 1996 and 2002 and has served on Family Law, General,Trials, Criminal Calendar, Civil Fast Track and Appellate Calendar assignments; and= WHEREAS, Judge Flier has also served on Bench Committee assignments including Budget Committee Chair, Court Reports, Criminal Law Judges, Fast Track Judges, Recognition and Social';,Committees;and WHEREAS, Judge Flier's legal career``includes working as a Deputy District Attorney for Contra Costa County from 1973-1985, during which time he set the record in 1977 for the most Felony Trial Days in a Year and his assignments included Misdemeanor trials, Preliminary Examinati€�ns, Felony Trials,and also working as a Hearing Examiner for the California Office of Administrative Hearings, General Service#Adminlstration from 14I72-1973; and WHEREAS, Judge Flier was named Contra Costa County Trial Judge of the Year in 2000, presented by the Alameda- Contra Costa Trial Lawyer's Assodititionj and WHEREAS, Judge Flier has worked tirelessly for a legion of community, professional and educatiohal organizations including Pleasant Hili Rotary Club where he is currently the 2004-2005 President, Diablo Valley College Law Day Speaker, Contra Costa Bar Associaton speaker, Contra Costa Trial Lawyer's Association, Hastings 076 e of Law Alumni Association,'University of California Alumni Association, and many others. NOW, THEREFORE ISE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County dues hereby congratulate and commend M16-W11 On the Occasion of his retirement and thank him for his dedicated`service to the people of Contra Costa County PASSED by a unanimous''vote of the Berard of Supervisors this 10th day of y,2005.
