BACKGROUND/REASON[S)FOR RECOMMENDATION The 2005 Contra Costa County State Legislative Platform includes the following policy position: Support efforts to ensure that Contra Costa County receives its fair share of State allocations. . . . The State Department of Alcohol and Dreg Programs recently released its preliminary allocation of FY 05-06 funds to counties under Prop 36 (Substance Abuse Treatment Trust Fund). Under the new formula, Contra Costa County's allocation would be reduced from$2,838,359 to $411,279, an 85%reduction. A reduction of this magnitude would wreck havoc on the County's alcohol and drug abuse programs, causing massive service reductions and layoffs. CONTINUED ON ATTACHMENT: YES SIGNATURE: C.
