t V REV TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS CONTRA Lori Gentles, Acting Assistant County Administrator- FROM•. Director of Human Resources COSTA DATE. April 19, 2005 s' CU COUNTY SUBJECT: Temporary Salary Increase For Position No. 00006558 0.025 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION Adopt the attachment resolution providing for a ten percent (10%) salary increase for Position No. 00006558 in the Labor Relations Division of the Human Resources Department effective November 10, 2004 through March 10, 2005. BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION The loss of the Labor Relations Manager and one additional member of the Labor Relations Unit in November of 2004 resulted in additional work responsibilities for the remaining employee. In view of the increased responsibilities assumed by the individual occupying Position no. 00006558, the Department is recommending a ten percent (10%) salary increase for the position for four months. Such increase is to compensate the individual for temporarily assuming additional responsibilities during the recruitment period for a Labor Relations Manager and two (2) Labor Relations Analysts positions. FISCAL IMPACT There are salary savings from the vacant positions to offset the cost of a ten percent (10%) salary increase for four months. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION Failure to approve the proposed action would present a disincentive for employees needed to assume additional work responsibilities during increased workload situations.
