HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04192005 - 2005 RES 243 Of RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING RESOLUTION NO. 20105/243 APRIL 23, 200S AS EARTH DAY IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY WHEREAS, the John Muir Association and the National Park Service are partnering to revive the celebration of Earth Day in Contra Costa County on April 23, 2005; and WHEREAS, the event will be the first such celebration in the county since 2001; and WHEREAS, the theme of the event is "Celebrate the Man Who Celebrated the Barth" in recognition of the 167th birthday anniversary of John Muir, the father of the preservation movement; and WHEREAS, the event will be held at John Muir's estate, now a National Historic Site maintained by the National Parti Service, in Martinez; and WHEREAS, more than 35 groups representing altertlative forms of transportation, energy, and building materials, gardening, agriculture; composting, recycling, green businesses, conservation of resources and habitats will be on-site'to showcase their programs and projects;,and. WHEREAS, the celebration 9s an opportunity for citizens to learn how they can help fulfill the legacy of John Muir.
