TAMORI TO COMMEMORATE HIS 88T'BIRTHDAY WHEREAS, Shoji Tamori was bona in Lafayette,California,on April 1, 1917,the third child ofKumentaro and Nobu Tamori,who migrated here in the year 1900;and WHEREAS,Shoji Tamori attended Lafayette Elementary School in 1922 and his family moved to Concord in 1926,purchased ten acres of proat 301 Treat Boulevard;he then graduated from Mt.Diablo Nigh School in 1936;and WHEREAS,Shoji Tamm and'his family donated 2 acres ofproperty,in 1V26 to the Japanese Concord Institute, later becoming:the Diablo Japanese—American Club,located at-316S.Treat Boulevard.,Concord, California;-And WHEREAS, Shoji Tamoki enlisted in the army on January 18, 1942 after the outbreak of World War II. His familLy'was interned at Gila River Concentration Camp, Arima Shoji,Tamori7„a� a private first class, infantry, cotiipany "1", 442nd infantry,was awarded a purple Heart wounded to aotitih'l in France, October 944 and was honorably discharged October 30 1945.
