(District V) Project No. 0662-6R4141-02 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE project contingency fund increase of$300 for anew total of$52,381.75 effective March 1,2005 in order to compensate the contractor, B&B Grading and Paving, Inc., for extra work due to unforeseen conditions. FISCAL IMPACT: The project contingency funds are currently insufficient to cover the increased cost. The increase in contingency funds will be funded by 100% Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency Funds. (District V) Project No. 0662-6R4141-02 DATE: March 1, 2005 PAGE: 2 of 2 REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND: Additional funding is needed to pay the contractor for extra work that was not part of the original contract.The extra work consisted of removing and capping an abandoned well. The additional work costs exceed the proj ect contingency fund.Approval of the project contingency fund increase is required to compensate the contractor for the additional work. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would prevent successful completion of this contract and preclude payment to the contractor for required work.
